Woodland Stewardship Plan
As a private landowner you want the best for your woods, wildlife, and water. In order to get the best out of your property having a plan in place is a must. A Woodland Stewardship Plan will address your goals for your property which can include but not limited to: Increasing wildlife habitat, maintaining ecological diversity, increasing forest cover, maintaining open areas for high quality forage, and timber harvesting for overall health of your timber. We had recently purchased some land that had never been managed and we were not certain where to start. I contacted Dickson Forestry after hearing Paul at a DNR event on Land Management. Paul met me at our property and walked the property and provided us with several options on how to best manage our property.
Our decision was to have part of the property logged at this time. Paul (Dickson Forestry) walked us through each step of the process. Once a logging company was selected and a start date was determined, Paul and I met with the logger. When the logging started, Paul recommended I come up and see how the process was going and answered any questions I had. During the logging process Paul kept me updated on what was being done and the daily harvest results.
